Dragons Den

I don't think theirs just one color that represents me because I have different moods and attitudes. If I had to chose a color to represent me it would be coral. The color coral is a very natural and simple color in my opinion. I am a very natural person and I like to be simple, even though sometimes I'm not. The color coral also represents me because it reminds me of nature and I am a nature person. Coral is definitely a color that represents me.

Portfolio - Improvement

Over the past two years I have improved my academic skills drastically. My writing skills before high school were okay, but I knew that I needed more improvement. My writing skills now are better than they were because now I know how to add details, use grammar properly, and use more advanced words to make my writing more interesting. Before I started high school I read books, but I don't read books anymore. The only books I read are the text books that we use in the classrooms. My reading skills haven't improved because I stopped reading books. My speaking skills were not good before high school, but they have improved. Now my speaking skills have changed and I don't use inappropriate language anymore. Before I became a freshmen in high school I didn't use technology. Now that I'm in high school I use technology for almost everything I do. In order to continue advancing my academic skills I plan to keep going to school and focus on my education. I also plan to be open to learning new and different strategies to advance my education.

Portfolio - Future

My future looks very bright in my opinion because I have good grades and i'm making good choices for myself. I want to graduate high school, go to SDSU, study business and go to cosmotology school. I want to study business and go to cosmotology school to try and make my own make up business. In order for this to happen I need to keep doing good in school and focus on not procrascinating. To achieve my goals I will need some support from family and myself so that I don't procrascinate and give up. I believe that I will achieve my goal because when I set a goal I push myself until I achieve it and not give up.

Playwrights Project Play Performance Paragraph

Today when the Playwrights actors came to act parts of our plays I felt amazed, very touched, and fascinated. I was amazed at how well the actors acted out the plays and it was their first time reading the plays. I was so touched because some of the plays were very sad and were based on life experiences some of my peers have gone through. Some of the people in the audience were very emotional when the plays were being acted and that shows that the plays were well written. I was so fascinated because the plays were so good and had many emotions. This was a great experience for me because it was great to sit and listen to plays that were based on real stories. I really enjoyed the plays, the actors, and the Playwrights Project.

End of Year Reflection – Greatest High School Achievement

Over the past two years of high school I have made many achievements, but my biggest achievement was earning a 4.0 GPA for third quarter. I was given an award and two hundred dollars at my school assembly. I knew I had a 4.0 GPA because I check my grades often, but when I received my award and the money I felt very proud of myself because I had achieved a goal I had set for myself. Earning a 4.o was a great accomplishment for me because I tried my best and pushed myself to the best of my abilities. One of my teachers Mr.Walker, put me to the test to see if I could get a 4.0 and I was able to achieve. Earning a 4.0 GPA changed me because I know that I can accomplish anything I want, all I need to do is trust in myself and push myself to get what I want.

Portfolio - My Educational Experiences

Due to my educational experiences, I feel that I am doing well in school and my grades show it. I haven't attended many schools so that is an advantage in my education because I wasn't moving around much. I have attended seven schools in total from kindergarden to sophomore year, but some of the schools I attended were in my opinion not good schools. Sometimes I procrasinate and won't do my work, but that will happen once in a while. The schools I went to had very good teachers that were disciplined and taught me to stay focused and try my best in all that I do. To make sure I am successful in school I check my grades everyweek and if I am missing assignments I check what I am missing adn make them up. I also talk to my teachers to see how I am doing in class and what I can do to be better. I try my hardest to be a successful person in school so that I can have a good future.

End of Year Reflection – Greatest High School Obstacle

The biggest obstacle I've had to deal with over the past two years is when I found out my mom was pregnant and she was having a baby. I was at my sisters, on an overnight pass and her cellphone rang. I had her cellphone and when I picked it up a guy said "your mom is in the hospital giving birth"! I was in shock because I didn't know what to think and I had no idea she was pregnant. I was also scared for the baby and my mom because of the circumstances my mom was in, she didn't have much to eat and the baby wasn't getting fed. This changed me because I started getting more concerned about my mom and what she was doing in T.J. This experience was a huge deal for me, but it was a good experience because I had a new baby sister.

Free Blog Post

I am so excited for school to be over and summer vacation to come. I am planning on going on pass with my sisters and hopefully going to Mexico to visit my dad. I haven't seen him, my brother and my little sister for three months and I really miss them. I'm not use to being away from them or not seeing them for a long time, so it's actually really weird for me. I am also planning on spending time with my family and some friends that I haven't talked to because I've been busy. Another thing I want to do is try and find my mom, that is lost somewhere in T.J. I haven't seen or heard from her in two years and I really miss her. I hope I have a great time over my summer break.

Playwrights Project Play Completion Reflection

For the past five weeks I have been writing a play called "Lost!" and today I entered it into a contest and I feel alieviated. I feel good about my play because I worked really hard to try and finish it. My play is based on a real life experience, so I wrote down everything that I felt. Since it was based on a real life experience, it was really easy to put it together. I am stoked to see the actors act out the plays next week because I know that my peers did a great job on writing their plays. I can't wait for next week to come because I know that the actors are going to do an amazing job at acting out the plays.

SPA Prom 2011 or Free Write

On Friday we had prom at Hotel del Coronado, but I didn't go. I had my dress and everything I needed for prom and at the last minute I decided not to go. My best friend was mad at me because she wanted me to go, but I didn't. On Friday I helped some people get ready for prom. I went to my best friends house before she left to prom and she looked so pretty. After she was gone I left on pass to go see my family. I had such a great time on pass and when it was time to come back to SPA I was not happy. I got back on campus and all I hear was drama that happened at prom and on campus. I was so happy that I wasn't on campus or at prom because it would of messed up my whole weekend.

Summary
This is a summary of [Shaurice H]’s blog post titled [Comment-Seeking Post]. To access the full post, click here. Shaurice talks about prom and how she doesn't have a dress yet and prom is getting near. She seems to procracinate on the weekends and says she going to go prom shopping, but she doesn't. She doesn't like to ask her parents to give her money because she knows that they aren't wealthy and she is really picky on what she wants.

Comment-Seeking Post

When two people have a relationship at SAN PASQUAL ACADEMY they don't seem to workout and they end up breaking up in weeks or even days. Not all relatioships on campus work that way, but most of them do. A reason some relationships don't work is because other poeple are in a couples relationship and they either make up things or just try to separate them if they are happy. Many couples seem to have problems because they tell their friends their business and what i going on in their relationship. Another reason relationships don't work on our campus is because of cheating. Some couples think that they can go snooping around and messing with a guy or female when their partner is on pass or something, but they always get caught. Some couples on our campus are very manipulating and some even try to feel like they have to be in control and their partner don't like that and that is why some don;t seem to last. Jealousy is a very big reason why relationships don't workout. This reason mainly pertains to the females because they are insecure, but it can pertain to the guys as well. Many of the kids think that if their couple is hanging out with somebody else, they immediately like them, but it's not always the case. Some people are just friends and want to spend time together, but people don't see it that way. Also, people don't last because they have too many problems and have been on and off for sometime. I don't why people will go back out if they already broke up and tried to be together, but it didn't work out. I can go on with this list, but the point is most relationships on campus don't workout.

President Obama’s Big Announcement

To learn about Osama Bin Laden's death I watched the news and I learned that he was living in a mansion for over five years. First FBI had to investigate that it was him who lived there and not somebody that looked like him. After they were positive it was him they sent out Navy Seals to go after him. US troops went in his home and he tried to use his wife to protect him. He was shot on the head twice and was killed. Now I think that this event is going to make the Al Quida angry and they are going to make a plan to get back at the United States for killing their leader. The war on terrorisms will never end no matter if the main leaders are killed.

Now that I have read and watched the news about Osama Bin Laden's capture and death, I predict the Unites States better be prepared to protect it's land and people. One thing I predict is that Al Quida is going to get another leader and when the US least expects it, they are going to attack. I think this will happen because of Osama's death and capture and also because many people are celebrating his death. Another thing I predict will happen is that Obama will get shot and killed or the White House will be bombed and destroyed. I predict this will happen because the Al Quida are mad and because people are celebrating a mans' death. I hope this terrorist war ends so that nobody else dies or gets hurt, especially innocent people.

Posters in the Hall

I think that having only Caucasian quotes on our hallway isn't right for several reasons. The first reason is that Caucasians are not the only people that are inspiring in this world. There are many quotes that are written by Mexican or Africans or other people that are meaningful. Caucasian people are important, but so are other people and they should get credit too not just caucasians. I would like to see more quotes from different people, no matter their race or skin color, on our wall. Many kids in our school would benefit from it because they will read and learn lessons from the quotes.

CST Testing Reflection

I have been testing for the last three days and I am frusturated about it. The first day of the CST test, I took the English portion and it was extremely easy. On wednesday, I took the Math portion and that was easy as well. Today I took the history section and that test was difficult and confusing. Most of the questions that were asked on the test, I haven't learned so I had to take a guess. Tomorrow I am taking the biology section and Friday I am taking the science section. I hope that both of the test I am taking in the next few days aren't difficult and I hope the questions are about somethings I already learned. I hope that I don't have to take a test like this one anytime soon and hopefully I did well on them.

My Feelings about the Upcoming CSTs

I am taking the CST next week and I feel ready and confident. When I had to take the CAHSEE a few weeks ago I felt ready but at the same time overwhelmed. I knew that I was going to do well so thats why I felt ready. I knew that if I read all the questions carefully and stay focused and positive I would do well on the test. Every time I take test I feel the same way because I stay positive, which makes me confident and I feel ready to pass the test. The CTS is right around the corner and I know that I am going to do well on it and try my best not to guess. I feel very confident and ready but at the same time slightly nervous.

Testing Tips, Strategies, and Plays Reflection

Knowing tips, strategies, and plays can help me when it comes to testing because I will know what I have to do to choose the right answers. I have learned that by reading the question carefully and eliminating answers that don't make sense or are rediculously wrong, I will be able to choose the right answer. I know that the most important rule when taking test is to follow direction carefully and read everything that is on the page. I know that I have to try my best on this test, not give up, and stay positive. I am nervous about this test but if I apply all these strategies that I have learned I know that I will do well on it. I am ready to take this test and see how well I do on it.

Playwrights Project Inspired by Music Paragraph

In class today, we listened to music so we can come up with ideas for our play. At first, I was very confused and lost as to what I wanted to write about, but then the music was very smooth and I got into the flow of it. While listening to the music, I thought about a very romantic moment ina movie and I got lost in my thoughts. My thoughts weren't very romantic or exciting, they were more sad because of my experience. While I was writing, I remembered every moment of my experience and I was able to visualize everything that happened that day. I was able to do my classwork because the music made me remember one of my worst experiences and I was also able to experience it all over again. Afterward, I felt the same way I felt when I was experiencing it, but I felt good because I know that it makes me stronger.

UnGoogleable Research Paper Website Selection Reflection

Today in class, I researched websites to find out more information about my topic for my research paper. To search for websites, I used some of the links Ms.Priester introduced us to to in class. When I found a website related to my focus question, I read the article and made sure it had a title, a publishing date, and a publisher, to make sure they were at grade or above grade level. I knew some of the websites I found were unacceptable because they had ads or way too many ads and they had no dates, titles, or publishers. I know the websites I selected are good because they have all the qualities of above or at grade level article should have or they were from professors or an educated person. Tomorrow, I expect that Ms. Priester will tell me that I did a good job researching for my topic.

On friday we had an awards assemly in the auditorium to recognize the students who had above a 3.0 gpa in third quarter. All the students, teachers, social workers and staff attended the awards assembly. Many awards were given out for grades and others for citizenship grades, attitude, and other things. I recieved threee awards, one for having a 4.0 gpa, another one for most improved from Beedles class, and the last one was for Knott's Berry Farm. There were so many kids that were being recognized for their grades and recieved a certificate and some money depending on their gpa. On the next awards assembly I am going to be receiving another 4.0 award and seeing many more kids in front getting their awards for working hard.

UnGoogleable Research – What I Already Know

My focus question is “How does the definition of beauty differ across the world"?I already know that every person has their own meaning of beauty and it all depends on the person. Some people may think that personality makes someone beautiful while anothe person may think that a person's features is beauty. I also now that beauty differs across the world because of the many different variety of cultures we have. Every culture is different and they have their own perspective of beauty and what makes a person beautiful, it can be from accessories, to piercing, to clothing, etc. Additionally there is no definition of beauty and everyone is going to have their own definition to it. By doing research, I hope to learn what people on the otherside of the world or even neighbors, think about beauty and their definition.

“Switch” Play Audience Member Experience

Today, I went to a play called "Switch" with some sophomores and juniors. The play was about foster kids, how the system works, and all the struggles that kids are faced with. I was very suprised by the way the characters changed persona and how they stuck to the character they were playing. I think it was an amazing play and I recommend people to go see it because the experience was extrordinary and very eye opening. I was very touched in some of the parts and some made me cry because many kids are going through many things like getting taken away and it very emotional seeing it get played out. An example from the play that made me cry was when the kid was getting taken away from his mother and he was crying and screaming. Many people don't know what foster care is or what foster kids are and this play was so good that it basically explained it just by acting it out. I am very glad that I was able to experience this and I hope that I can go to more plays like this one and one day write a play about my experince as a foster kid and have it acted out.

Homonyms Poems

Yesterday I said bye to my grandma before I went to go buy food next to the store by my house. Before I left I asked my grandma for money and she gave me four dollars. I went to the store and bought two candies. On one of the wrappers it said that I had won a prize. I was so excited I did not know what to do so I ran home and got a big knot on my back. So I told my grandma and she started to hesitate whether we should go get the prize because the weather had changed. She told me I would have to wear boots and a rain coat to go outside and asked "where is this place"? As we walked I could hear my grandma become weak and said to come here.

Fourth Quarter Kickoff Reflection

The fourth quarter kickoff was very enjoyable and I had so much fun. I was in team 3 and eventhough we didn't win and had less points than the other teams, we were still able to have fun playing the games. My favorite activity we had was the water activities eventhough I got wet and ichy from the grass. It was a very hot and beautiful day so the water made it even better and refreshing. My team worked together in every activity but unfortunatley other teams won us. I had so much fun on the fourth quarter kickodd and I hope we can do it again and have the same enthusiasm so we can win.

Fourth Quarter Goals

My greatest achievement from last quarter was working hard and getting a 4.0 gpa. In order to achive this I had to do several things. First, I had to stay on task and not get distracted in class and when I did my homework. Second, I had to so all my classwork and my homework and making sure it was above grade level. Third, I had to check my grades to make sure I wasn't missing any assigments and if I was I made them up.

My goal for fourth quarter is the same as my goal for third quarter, to get a 4.0 gpa. In order to achieve my goal I would have to do the following

•Do all my class work and homework at above grade level.

•Stay focused and study

•Check to see if I have missing assignments to make up •Stay positive and encourage myself

This last quarter of sophomore year I plan to end the year feeling proud of myself that I achieved my goals.

“Where Have You Gone, Charming Billy?” Narrative

It was a dark night and I was walking with twenty six other men in a single line, being as quiet as a cricket so enemies couldn't hear us. Most of the soldiers in my platoon were exhausted from the long march, but were anxious to get to the sea where we would be safe and away from danger. It was my first day at the war and anxiety and fright was running through my body. I kept imagining myself back at home with my father, but when I opened my eyes I was back in the dark jungle risking my life. The men told me a story of how Billy Boy Watkins died of a heart attack. Fright took over me and I started laughing hysterically not because it was funny that Billy Boy Watkins died of a heart attack, but because I was afraid. I felt like I would never get use to being in the war and having to risk my life and live surrounded by thousands of miles of water that protected the men and I from enemies.

What I Learned in the Third Quarter of English 10

Third quarter English 10 with Ms.Priester has been very easy. I have learned many different things that I knew and other things that were totally new to me. The first thing that I learned about was symbolism and allegory, which were very easy concepts to learn about because I was familiar with them already. I also learned things about poetry and we had to make a presentation, which was very exciting. The next things I learned about was imagery and figurative language. Both of those concepts were also very easy because I was familiar with them and the projects were easy as well. The next things I learned about were primary and secondary sources. That was incredibly easy because those concepts were simple. This quarter has been very easy and I am glad that I was able to learn new things and review other so that I don't forget them.

CAHSEE Reflection

Today I took the CAHSEE and I feel like I passed it. At first I was very nervous because I had to take the test and I had a major headache. I was trying to write my essay and my head felt like it was pounding and it felt really hot, but I still managed to write it. The multiple choice questions were very easy, but it was alot of reading. I was extremely bored because I hate reading, but some of the stories were actually interesting. I have a good feeling that I passed the English portion of the CAHSEE eventhough it was very boring and felt like I was testing forever.

“Where Have You Gone, Charming Billy?” Enlist Paragraph

When I turn 18 years old, I would not enlist in the military for various reasons. The first reason I wouldn't enlist is because I wouldn't want to risk my life and die at a very young age. Thge military has different good things to offer, but at the same time people are risking their lives and never know if they will come back alive from war. Another reason I wouldn't enlist is because I am afraid that I will die and not get to say goodbye to my family and they will have to suffer. The last reason I wouldn't enlist is because I agree that war and killing is the way to make peace, it just causes more rivalry and hate against people. If I got drafted I would go because I wouldn't want to be incarcerated and serve time in jail.

Primary and Secondary Sources Comparison

Primary and secondary sources are similar because they are both resources where people get their information from. Primary sources are origional, first hand account of an event. Some examples of primary resources are autobiographies, letters, personal essays, and speeches. Secondary resources are a second hand account written by a writer who did not participate directly in the events. Some example of secondary resources are biographies, reference books, history books and magazine articles. Primary and secondary resources are helpful because they give facts and important information.

Feelings about the CAHSEE

Stressed and overwhelmed is how I feel about the CAHSEE, but at the same time i feel prepared. I have been going to the afterschool math meetings and I it has helped me remember some strategies. By practicing writing essays in class has also helped me and I feel like I am going to pass the test. I am stressed because I know I need to focus in school but at the same time remember things I learned these past years. I am overwhelmed because I hate taking tests and just the idea of test makes me become overwhelmed. Eventhough I hate testa and feel stressed and overwhelmed I know that I am going to do great. I am going to put forth effort and not give up because I know that I am prepared for this.

"Ex- Basketball Player " Paragraph

Athletics are important to me eventhough I don't play them because they keep you in shape and people have something to do. Also, if people can't play because they don't have grades, they get motivated to try harder so they can play. Any sport teaches a person a lesson. It teaches people that their is no"I" in team and that they have to work together to win. I think it does prepare young people for life because like I said it teaches them a lesson and some people actually learn something from their experience. As a result athletics are mportant in a young persons life because they stay out of trouble, have something to do, and they achieve great knowledge from it.

Google Modirator Questions and Answers

Yes, I believe some people set very high expectations that are unrealistic. Some people set expectations that they think they will be able to achieve but they don't end up achieving them because either they are too hard or they realize they are a waste of time. It's important for people to set high expectations so they can improve themselves but some people are just ridiculous and get out of control and set them too high.

Persuading You to Read a Blog

Sophomores should comment on the freshmen's blogposts for different reasons. The first reason they should comment on their blogposts is because some freshmen aren't use to writing like a high schooler. They need to be aware of the mistakes they are making and if a sophomore points it out then they could fix their mistakes. Also, we sophomores need to help the freshmen become better at their writing and give them critiques and good feedback of their work. By commenting on the freshmens blogpost we sophomores aren't just helping them out or giving them confidence in their work, but we are also learning their points of views. As sophomores we need to start commenting on the freshmens blogspots and aknowledge their work.

Being a Sophomore

What it means to be a sophomore to me is being mature and getting ready to become and upper-class men. The maturity level of a sophomore should be higher than a freshmen's mind set which is still like middle schooler. A sophomore should be more mature because they need to learn how to act like upper class men and not fool around and take things seriously.

SPA Poem

I am here because I cannot be suppoted by my dad or my mama,

so now I have to go through the stress and all the drama

Surrounded by potential and surrounded by trees

the adults are knowledgable statues here just for me

the statues will talk the statues will help

they are there when I need them like when I'm having bad health

to me they are like bombs waiting to blow

waiting for the day that I graduate and go

The day that Mr. Walker told the class that he was leaving because he got another job was very difficult. Even though Mr. Walker and I didn't start off that great the beginning of ninth grade, we started to get along later that year. He would kick me out but afterward he would talk to me and give me advice about life and my future. At first his words didn't mean anything to me but then I started to realize he was right. By the end of my freshmen year I felt so close to him and also looked up to him. He was a person I knew I could talk to about anything and knew he would listen and not judge. The day that Mr. Walker left I was very upset but at the same time I was happy for him because he is doing what he's been working for. He is a very successful person that I look up to and will always remember.

Graph Sherbet Blog Post 2011

I can relate to the "Grape Sherbet" poem because when I was younger my family would get together to celebrate El Dia de lod Muertos meaning The Day of the Dead. I don't have alot of family that has passed away but I do have alot of friends who have lost their lives. The phrases that helped me visualize the poem were "the diabetic grandmother stares from the porch" and " "We thought no one was lying there under our feet, we though it was a joke.” When I would go to a cementary to visit my friends it would suprise me because I couldn't believe that they were gone and were under me and I was standing over them. Imagery helps the reader visualize things that they are describing and helpes them understand what they are reading.
