Second Quarter Jog Blog

Second Quarter Jog Blog

“Notes from a Bottle” SPA Flood Message in a Bottle.

Day1

December 15, 2010
Cold and clear, the water was now up to my knees. The carpet in my house is soaked and we are trying to keep everything that is valuable safe. Many of the students don’t care what their staff is saying and are running around like maniacs. Other students are sitting around sobbing hysterically and shaking uncontrollably. Their cries are like rings in our ears that won’t stop. Outside, the orange groves are half way covered and many oranges are floating in the water. Many of the staff and students are in denial and are praying that it will soon stop.

Day 2

December 16, 2010
Dark and in the middle of nowhere, we are all alone with no adults or staff. All the staff have left to be with their families. The orange groves are no longer visible and many bodies are floating around in the water, some are students and others are staff. The water is now half way up the mountains so students are up in roofs. Everyone is desperate and worried that they are smoking and drinking. Majority of the kids are swimming to the mountains to get to the top to be safe.

Day 3

December 17, 2010
We have just made it to the top of the hill and everyone is exhausted. Everyone looks like ghost, pale with their lips purple from the coldness of the water. There are about ten students at the tip of the hill and everyone else is floating in the water. The water is freezing and it feels like thousands of needles stabbing our bodies over and over again. The water is covering everything and nothing is visible from the top of the mountain. Everyone’s faces are blank showing no expressions of what is happening. The water is rising and it is now under my nose, my body is shaking and there is no way to make it stop.

What I Learned in English10 Second Quarter.

This quarter in Ms.Priester’s sophomore class I have learned some new things and had some review on things that I had already learned. In my sophomore class we don’t use paper because like Ms.Priester likes to say “my class is a paperless class”. She has use computers and do all of our work on goodle docs and other websites. One of the things I learned this quarter are how to embed things into my blog and also how to create a poll. Ms.Priester has also been teaching us some new concepts in literature such as ambiguity, theme and irony. I have also learned how to record and answer questions on the web and how to participate on an online discussion. Overall I have learned many different things this quarter in Ms.Priesters sophomore class.

Shop 'til You Drop Extra Credit

Amazing, that’s how I would describe the shop till you drop hosted by The Friends of San Pasqual. My house was one of the last houses to be called but I still had fun even though we got there late. I was so grateful because we have people that take their time to not only give to us but support us and encourage us to do better. I look up to all the donors that donate so us because they are a helping hand to the academy and make me want to give back to children when I grow up. I was excited because we got iPods and we got to take picture and do many other things. Overall it was such an amazing experience even though it was my third time going.

"Lamb to the Slaughter" - You're the Detective

If I was a detective investigating the murder of Patrick Maloney in “Lamb to the Slaughter” by Roald Dahl, I would have not been persuaded to eat the lamb because a detective should never eat at a murder scene. I would have taken Marry Maloney into custody even though she seemed innocent because she was the one who called the cops and nobody else was around when Patrick was killed. Another thing I would have done was said no to Marry Maloney when she offered me some whiskey because she could have put something in it and I would have never suspected it. I would have been a more wise and careful detective.

"Lamb to the Slaughter" Mary's Giggling

At the end of “Lamb to the Slaughter” by Roald Dahl, Mary Maloney begins giggling because the officers were looking for the murder weapon and they were eating it. They kept saying that the murder weapon was going to be under their noses and they were eating the lamb that the wife had used to kill him. She was also laughing because she had tricked the officers and the detectives that she hadn’t killed her husband and she was innocent. After the police leave the house, I predict Mary will cry because she will notice what she had done and kill herself too.

Situational Irony in My Life Paragraph

I was waiting for the word “Your going to be expelled and sent to juvenile hall” to come out the principle’s mouth but instead she said “I’m disappointed”. I had just been in a fight at school with another girl because she had been running her mouth. I had been in other fights throughout the whole school year, which I was told if I got in another fight I would be suspended or sent to Juvenile Hall. The day of the fight I was trying to stay calm because I didn’t want to be suspended better yet I didn’t want to be sent to Juvenile Hall but I couldn’t handle my anger and ended up fighting. I was very surprised and shocked by the principle’s response because I was waiting for her to give mea different response.

First Persuasive Paragraph

Students shouldn’t be allowed to play sports because they need to focus on their school work before they do any extra curricular activity. I believe that if a student doesn’t have good grades then they aren’t trying in school and shouldn’t have the advantage of playing on a team. If a student isn’t allowed to play a sport they will get encouraged to try harder in their academics to get better grades and have a chance to play a sport. By not allowing a student to play a sport, if they don’t have good grades is a benefit for the student because it challenges them and puts them to the test to try harder to achieve a goal.

"The Bass, the River, and Sheila Mant" and "Catch the Moon" Theme Comparison Essay

Love has a variety of effects on people. When it is pure it can change people for the better and heal their pain. “ Catch the Moon” was written by a Puerto Rican American woman and is set in the Caribbean Hispanic Barrio. “ The Bass, The River, and Sheila Mant was written by a Caucasian man from New Hampshire and is set in a New England summer home waterfront community. In “Catch the Moon” and “The Bass, The River, and Sheila Mant” The main character a teenage boy, believes himself to be in love with a beautiful girl he just met. However, In “Catch the Moon,” Luis feelings for Naomi redeem him by inspiring to return to acts of goodness. In “The Bass, The River and Sheila Mant,” The fourteen year old boy realizes that “loving” one for their looks is shallow and futile.

In the story “The bass, the River and Sheila Mant” the main character is a boy who loves to fish. The boy falls in love with a girl named Sheila Mant but she hates fishing. He decided to take Sheila out of a canoe, on a date, and ends up catching a bass. He decides to let the bass go and later regrets his actions. In the story the main character says “There would be other Sheila Mants in my life, other fish, and though I came close once or twice, it was the these secrets, hiding tuggings in the night that claimed me, and I never made the same mistake again”. The character changes because he learns not to give up something he loves for a girl who is ungrateful. The theme of this story is that a person shouldn’t have to change who they are for another person to like them, even if they are in love.

The main character of “Catch the Moon” is a boy named Luis who lives in the Hispanic Barrio. He is dealing with the loss of his mother and the pain he had been hiding for years. He went to jail for breaking into a house, and was told by the court that he owed free labor to his father who worked in a car junk yard. He meets a girl, who’s family owns the funeral service that helped with his mother’s funeral, who he likes. She is missing a hubcap for her old Volkswagen buggie and Luis makes it his duty to find it. While Luis looks for the hubcap he starts to think about his mother, and how much he never realized how much he missed her. He found the hubcap for the girl and, started to change when he realized how the girl made him think about his mother. He broke down crying when he thought about his mother and how much he never grieved for her and missed her. Some people change when they are unable to grieve for someone they had lost, sometimes they look for attention by doing things that are wrong, and showing love and grief for someone they lost can be difficult, but it is always important to let go and grieve.

Love can control, and change people. It can change their behaviors and their action. It can heal, and hurt. Never change in the loss of someone you love and never loose something you love for some else. Many people change in the presence of others, and at the loss of someone close to them. Many people hide their grief, and their love for other things, but it is always good to some your love for something and someone you love. Hiding feelings for something or someone can be a mistake that can affect people in the long run. Grief and acceptance is something many people should learn and know.

“Catch the Moon” Grief Paragraph.

The change Luis experiences after he address the grief he feels for his mother’s death is believable because he starts to change. At first Luis was a good kid but after his mother passed away he became bad. He started hanging out with the wrong people and the wrong crowd. His so called friends influenced him and he started changing causing him to end up in juvenile hall. A similar situation I’ve experienced was when my mom got deported and I started becoming a bad person and not caring. Like Luis, I ended up in juvenile hall for my mistakes and for hanging out with the wrong crowd. I changed a lot but in the end I realized that I was just hurting myself.

"Homeroom Reform Essay."

“You need to learn how to separate your wants from your needs”-Mr. Litoff
(Financial Education Teacher). This quote is important for all students to learn because
it teaches them how to control, save, and spend their money right. Statistics proves that
85% of foster youth don’t know how to handle their money after they get emancipated
or leave the system. We feel that more students should have a financial education before
they leave the system.

Our school needs to have more students educated on how to use money. If we
had an elective class that students could choose to teach them about finances, they would
learn how to spend, save, and control their money. We would need funding for this to pay
for the costs of a new class with maybe some technology such as computers to help the
students learn. We would also need materials and school supplies to make our classroom
a better environment where kids can learn. Students need to learn about how to handle
money because when they graduate from high school and go on their own they need to
know how to control and be safe with their money.

This funding for our school would give a personal impact because we feel like it
would be an interesting topic to learn about and learning to control money is important to
teenagers who are becoming adults. It would help us when we have to go out on our own
and learn how to use money. This prize money would help many students in the need
for financial education. It would help us learn many things about money spending most
people don’t know about. This funding would be extremely important.

One way teenagers can learn about money at our school is by the one man who
gives individual lessons and helps students open a bank account. This is the closest thing
we have to getting financial education on our campus. It would be good to incorporate
these learning skills in to a class to help many other students learn about it in a school
environment, and give the opportunity to many students at a time.

This program will have an impact on our school by helping students prepare for
adulthood and it will also give the students an opportunity to earn school credits and learn
about business. By having this program in our school it will give the students different
options for elective classes. It will also help students and enhance their knowledge
not only about money but also about banks, businesses, and any other money related
companies such as stock trading and investment firms.

Financial Education is important and should be taught to students to prepare them
for a business career and their future with money. Our school needs to enhance its
student’s knowledge and teach them more what it’s like to handle and be in control of
their money. This prize would be helpful to our school and will open doors for many

foster youth.

"SPA Movie & Games Day Paragraph

When I arrived to school on Friday I was in an outstanding and humorous mood. I knew that I was going to have a great time because it was going to be a fun day. I went to class and watched the movie “Freedom Writers”, which was a great movie but people were talking a lot so they ruined it. The movie taught me about racism and how some teenagers are living their lives day by day not knowing if they are going to make wake up the next day. After the movie we had the volleyball and basketball games. The class of 13 won the basketball game but unfortunately we lost the volleyball game. When the games were done I went to eat and hang out with some friends. Friday was a great day and I hope we can have more days like this one!

Internal and External Conflicts in "The Bass, the River, and Sheila Mant"

In “The Bass, the River, and Sheila Mant” the main character faces both internal and external conflicts. The main characters internal conflict is the fact that he fell in love with Sheila Mant and he likes her a lot. He didn’t have the courage to ask her out so he would try to impress her until one day he asked her out. He took her to the fair in a canoe and she told him how much she hated fishing. Fishing was one of his favorite things to do and he had a fishing pole in his canoe that caught a bass while they were talking. He doesn’t want to catch the bass because he doesn’t want Sheila to see him fish and possibly make a fool out of himself. The external conflict of the main character is the fish and Sheila Mant. The fish is a conflict for him because it is the biggest fish he has caught and he doesn’t know if he’s going to have a hard time reeling it in. Sheila Mant is another external conflict because she is rude and not that friendly towards him. As a result of these conflicts the narrator changes because now he knows that he will never make the mistake of letting love take control over things that he enjoys doing.

"Catch the Moon"Falling in Love Paragragh

Falling in love sometimes changes a person and sometimes it doesn’t. Some people change because they feel like they can trust their partners but after they break up they feel betrayed and don’t want to trust anyone. Some people also change because their relationships don’t work out and they feel abandoned and lost. Every person is different and for some love doesn’t change them. For example I was in a relationship where I trusted my boyfriend but in the end it didn’t workout and we broke up. I didn’t let that situation affect my trust with other people. Sometimes love can be a good thing and at times it can be a bad thing. It makes people realize many things and can either bring you down or make you stronger.

One Halloween, Amy stayed all day at SPA and had an amazing time with some friends. She woke up and was excited because even though she wasn’t going trick or treating, she knew that she was going to have a great. She got up and got ready and watched some movies with some friends that came over to her house and went to the gym. She also played a game with her friends but it got ruined because boys were fighting. Amy’s day was going great until the fight and then everyone had to go inside there houses and the campus went on lock down. She was so upset because she couldn’t come out her house for the rest of the night and she couldn’t go to the gym like she wanted to.

’The Highwayman’ and ‘Typhoid Fever’ Comparison.”

"The Highwayman" and "Typhoid Fever" are similar because in the story both of the female characters die in the end. They are also similar because in both stories the characters fall in love with each other but they couldn't be together. In "The Highwayman" the characters weren' allowed to talk to each other because of the girls father and in "Typhoid Fever" the characters weren't allowed to talk because of the nuns. In both of the stories the characters fall in love but can't to be together because people won't allow it. It is important that Frank hears the ending of "The Highwayman" because after Patricia died he could relate back to the story since both of the girls die in the end.

“Typhoid Fever’– Present Tense Childhood Memory.”

I am five years old and I am having the best time of my life because it’s my birthday and I’m having a party. Many of my family members and friends are here and they are bringing me a lot of presents. My mom’s friend gave me a hamster as a birthday gift and I also got a kitten. I am so excited because I am having a great time and I love all my presents. I am going inside the house and my kitten is outside and when I came back out it got ran over by a car. Then, my hamster got out of the cage and went in the stove and my mom turned the stove on and my hamster died. I am so devastated because now both my pets are dead.

"The Cold Equations’ Marilyn’s Point of View.”

The title of the story is “The Cold Equation” and it is told in third-person limited. The readers only feel and think like Barton because the story is told by his point of view. If the story would have been told by Marylin’s point of view it would be real different. One reason is because if the story was told from Marylin’s point of view we would know how she felt when she was saying her last goodbye’s to her brother and also how she felt when she talked to him. Another reason the story would be different is because we would know and more details would be embedded in the story to tell us how Marylin felt when she realized that she was going to die and never see her family again. The final reason is if it was told by Marylin point of view we would be able to understand what she is thinking and how she is feeling about the whole situation.

“’The Storyteller’ - Memorable Books from My Childhood.”

1. Junie B. Jones and Her Big Fat Mouth by Barbara Park
2. Charlotte’s Web by E.B White
3. Tikki Tikki Tembo retold by Arlene Mosel
4. Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak
5. No. David! by David Shannon

Tikki Tikki Tembo by Arlene Mosel is one of the books that caught my interest because of the flow it had to it and the rhythm. Tikki Tikki Tembo is about a Chinese lady who name one of her sons Tikki tikki tembo-no sa rembo-chari bari ruchi-pip peri pembo. One day her son Chang falls into a well so Tikki tikki tembo-no sa rembo-chari bari ruchi-pip peri pembo told his mother and she had him tell the old man with a ladder and he saved Chang. However, another day Tikki tikki tembo-no sa rembo-chari bari ruchi-pip peri pembo fell in the well and Chang was trying to tell his mother but he couldn’t get his brothers name right and was struggling. Then when he finally got his brothers name right his mother told him to tell the old man with the ladder to save him. Tikki tikki tembo-no sa rembo-chari bari ruchi-pip peri pembo had been in the well so long after he was taken out that he had to recover and after that Chinese started giving their children short names.

Chilean Miners Rescue

In San Jose Mine, Chile on August 5, 2010, thirty-three Chilean miners were trapped in a mine with few amounts of food and water. They had no way to get out the mine due to their only opening being blocked by rocks and dirt. They had to wait and share their food and other things with each other for approximately two weeks. After being found they were given supplies and food by a small opening that was made by rescuers. The thirty-three men were trapped in the mine for sixty-nine days until yesterday, Wednesday October 14, 2010 they were rescued and taken to hospitals. Worried is how I would describe my feelings about this situation because nobody ever knows what could or is going to happen to these workers. I was worried not only for the workers but also for their families because they would suffer too if something occurred to their husband, wife, son, or any of their family members. If I was in the miner’s situation I would panic but also try to stay calm and find a way to help all my other co-workers so they could get out safe and go with their families. I would panic because many things could go wrong and sometimes miners aren’t found and are left abandoned, alive with no food or anything to keep us alive.

"Autobiographical Narrative Reflection.”

When it comes to writing I can do a great job only if I try and put effort into it. On my Autobiographical Narrative I wrote about my experience in Juvenile Hall and how miserable it was. I wrote on how I felt at the time at that time and all the emotions that were going through me. I also did well at giving details and describing how people and the place looked. The last thing I did well at was put myself back at the time of my horrible experience. I didn’t do that well on this paper because I felt like one week isn’t enough to write a narrative that will earn above grade level. I also procrastinated because I wasn’t going to write it because I felt like I wasn’t going to get a good grade. The last thing I will do different on my next paper is brainstorm and give full details. On my next paper I will put forth effort into writing it to earn above grade level.

"Two Kinds" Mother & Daughter Conflict Paragraph

In the conflict between Jing-mei and her mother, Jing-mei is the person I would support. Her mother is trying to make her a prodigy at things she can’t do because she isn’t interested. For example when her mother saw a little girl on TV she made Jing-mei learn to play the piano even though she didn’t want to. This also shows that the Jing-mei’s mother is egoistical because she wants her daughter to do what she wants and doesn’t give an opportunity for her to choose what she wants. In addition, she made Jing-mei dislike her because she pushed her to much. Jing-mei’s actions show that she is strong and will not let people boss her around.

"Two Kinds" Summary Poem

My name is “Jing-mei” and I have a “mother” who always tries to make me “prodigy”. She is a very “strong-willed” woman who was born in “China”. Two of her “daughters” “died” when they were “babies”. My mother wants me to go to college but I tell her I don’t even know the “capitals”. One day she took me to a “beauty college” to get a haircut so that I could look like “Shirley Temple” but I ended up looking like Peter Pan because it was done wrong. My mother believed that I could be anything I wanted to be if I “tried”. Since she cleaned houses she always found “magazines” and made me try new things that I had never done before. She made me take “piano lessons” that she “scheduled” with “Mr.Chong”. I had to “practice” a song called “Pleading Child” for a “talent show’ I was going to perform at. The day of the talent show I sat on the “bench” and started playing the song but I realized the “keys” I was pressing were the wrong ones. All the “notes” I played were wrong and I had made so many “mistakes” I couldn’t even keep track. I started “shaking” and when it was over the “audience didn’t even “clap”. I could see “disappointment” in my mothers face but she wasn’t shedding “tears”. After my mother passed away I “realized” I was a “rebel” and my mother only wanted what was best for me. I was very “sentimental” and a bit of “misery” because I felt I had “betrayed” her and she only wanted what was best for me. Many “memories” came back to me of how she thought I could be a “genius” at everything.

“Two Kinds” In the Shoes of a Prodigy

If I was born a prodigy I would be blessed because I would be good at a lot of things and wouldn't have to become good at other things. If I weren’t a prodigy then I would act the same as Jing-me because I would not want anyone to push me to do something I did not want to do. I would not be pushed to do anything that I wouldn’t want to do because I’m a type of person that doesn’t need anyone to push them. I wouldn’t have acted like Jing-me and disrespected my mother the way she did because she saw so much in her and if a person saw I could be someone then I would be grateful and let them help me.

“Two Kinds” Conflict Experience

A recent experience I had is when my sister and I were in a fight because she wanted me to break up with my ex boyfriend. I didn’t want to break up with him because I thought that I really liked him. I felt like my sister was trying to manipulate me and choose who I could and couldn’t date. She wanted me to go out with a really close friend of mine but I didn’t want to. My sister and I stopped talking and it wasn’t long after we stopped talking that my ex boyfriend and I broke up. I was upset at myself because I was in a fight with my own family member over some guy. My sister and I apologized to each other and we talked about our experience and she understands that I have to make my own decisions.

Character Analysis of Kiki

My roommate Kiki as many people know her, has a very outgoing personality. Kiki is always making people laugh and telling jokes. Kiki doesn’t care what people think or say about her because she likes to have fun and enjoy herself. At school dances she is always one of the first people to start dancing and makes the dances fun. A lot of the staff and many of the students and people who know her are always telling her she has a great sense of humor and is always smiling. Kiki’s always smiling and even though she has bad days she turns them around and has a great time because of her outgoing attitude.

“Everyday Use" Character to Person Comparison Paragraph”

In the story “Everyday Use” Dee’s and Maggie’s mother reminds me of my sister. She is a very outspoken, straight forward person in the story and that is how my sister acts. My sister is a type of person that will tell someone if they are wrong about something. She also makes people realize they are no better than anyone else and they shouldn’t be ashamed of who they are and where they came from. In the story Dee is very ashamed of how her house looked and even of her own family. She thinks that the world revolves around her and takes everything for granted. My sister is a great example and a person that I can look up to.

Everyday Use from Dee's Point of View

My name is Dee and I am very intimidated by the way my house looks. I have a sister named Maggie who lives with my mother. My sister has scares running down her arms and legs from the time our house got burned and so did she. I was invited to come back home and visit my family so I bring a friend with me. I presented my sister Maggie to my friend Asalamalakim but she was very scared when she meet him and hid. From my point of view everything revolves around me and everything has to be good. I am extremely embarrassed to introduce my family or even take pictures with them because the way their house looks isn’t good enough for me.

Everyday Use

One of the traditions I would like to pass down my generation of my family are some of my beliefs. I am Catholic but I believe mostly in the Native American ways. I believe that everything on Earth is god and it should be cherish and respected as much as god is. I do not have any special items that I could pass down to my generation but if I did it would be gold necklaces and rosaries. When I was younger my mother gave me a necklace that was my grandmas that she gave to her before she came to the U.S. I would like to have my grandchildren and their children wear something that I wore when I was younger.

"Character Prior Knowledge Paragraph about Tom Benecke

In the story “Contents of a Dead Man’s Pocket” the character Tom Benecke has different traits and they change as his emotions change during the story. For example I would consider him a hard working person because when he was suppose to go with his wife to the theatre he decided to stay and work. He is also a very courageous and is willing to take risks because in the story he went outside to try and retrieve his paper and risked his life and not seeing his wife again. At the end of the story he is very careless at the fact that the paper flew out the window again and all he did was chuckle and went to go find his wife.

A Rainy Day Storybird

A Rainy Day on Storybird

9/11

The day of 9/11 I was five years old and I was at home, grounded standing on the corner. I remember that my mom had grounded me because I had clogged the toilet with paper on purpose. She started watching the news and I heard the news reporters talking about the twin towers. My mom and I were in shock when we were watching the video they were showing on TV. They started talking about people dying and my mom told me “See that’s why you have to be good because you never know what can happen to me tomorrow”. I started thinking about all the people who had lost their lives and how their families were going to suffer. I was young and didn’t understand much but my moms words did make me think.

Tick and Tock Adventures

There were two aliens named Tick and Tock who lived in outer space but always wanted to come to Earth because they didn’t fit with others of their kind. They always talked about going to Earth and meeting people but they always revoked their ideas because they thought that they wouldn’t fit with people on Earth. So one day they decided they were going to leave and start a new life and left to planet Earth. They drove their space shuttle for days until they reached Earth and that when they first saw a human. They saw a little girl named Lulu and she was petrified by the ballyhoo of their space shuttle. Lulu was so scared because she thought she was going to be abducted that she ran away as fast as she could and hid. Tick and Tock were so sad because they didn’t feel welcome and were about to leave but Lulu came out and talked to them. She asked them so many questions and she thought that Tick was the zany one and Tock was the stickler. They started to feel comfortable and they started to make friends. They were having so much fun with their new lives that they forgot about their past and outer space.

Mouse in the Cafe

There was a mouse named Howard that lived in the cafeteria and had so many places in there where he slept. One day as Howard was out, trying to find food so he can eat he found a pack of hamsters trying to invade his property. There were so many hamsters that Howard didn’t know what he was going to do. They started getting into his houses and in a heart beat he had now where to stay. They ate all his food and when he was hungry they wouldn’t share with him. They were very mean to him and treated him like he didn’t exist and was worthless. One day when he couldn’t take it anymore he decided he was going to leave and find a new place to live. Just as he was packing his belonging, a baby hamster named Lulu came to him and gave him his food to eat. Howard didn’t want to take it but he was so hungry he ate it. Lulu started to help him out and soon Howard had a place to live again. He started to get along with all the hamsters and over a period of time they all became a family and treated each other fairly.

Center for Regressive Tendencies

In hand cuffs and very confused, the officer took me into a building that was small and had letters outside that spelled Center for Regressive Tendencies. As I was escorted inside I noticed that there were only two other patients their and weird looking robots taking care of them. The robots, dressed in all white were very calm but serious and treated the patients unfairly. I was escorted by a robot to my cell room that was all white and had a lot of cameras in it. I was being watched by not only the cameras but also the robots were watching me carefully to see what I was doing. I felt the hair on my back stand up from all the technology that surrounded me and watched every step I took.

Purpose of "The Pedestrian"

Ray Bradbury wrote the story “The Pedestrian” so people can realize what advance technology will do in the future and how it will affect humans. Ray explained in his story how everyone in the city stays in their house and all they do is watch television instead of socializing or interacting. The person that did go outside was seen as unusual and taken to a mental hospital to be examined because he was walking around getting fresh air. It also talked about how almost everything was advanced and there was no need for cops because there was no crime. Something that is common is seen as rare and weird in the story because everything is advanced and people don’t have social lives and are into just using technology.

Life in 2053!

Life in 2053 will be very advance but at the same time very fatal and dangerous. One of the things that will be believe will be advanced is technology. Technology is used everyday and many people such as big businesses and companies are using technology such as robots instead of people. Technology will be so advanced that people will be able to take vacations to outerspace. Medicine is another thing that will also be advanced in my opinion. Scientist will be able to find cures for people who are blind and cures for cancer. It will be very fatal and dangerous because if things are advanced in the future the world will start to get over populated and their will be fewer resources. Even though technology will be advanced in the future the fewer resources we have the fewer things we humans will be able to receive or make. The world as we know today is suffering with loss of water resource and natural disasters. Waters are being contaminated and polluted and natural disasters are unplanned.

Poem Analysis Paragraph

The theme of both stories, “Contents of the Dead Man’s Pocket” and “You want a social life, with friends” is never take advantage of what you have and never put the most important things in your life second. In the story “Contents of the Dead Man’s Pocket” Tom focused more on his work and the piece of paper rather than being with his wife and focusing on her. In the poem “You want a social life, with friends”, Michelangelo spent his time creating the ceiling instead of focusing on what was more important in his life, which was his social life.

Yellow Paper Paragraph Possession

I don’t have that many belongings but one of my most prized possessions is a silver necklace that my brother gave to me. I’ve had my necklace for two years, not a long time but it was a gift that I have cherished since I received it. My brother gave it to me when I turned fourteen and since then I have never taken it off. I feel that if I loose it I am loosing the feeling of always having my brother by my side. My necklace makes me feel like my brother is always their even though he is far from me at times. My brother is a very important part of my life and that’s why I like having my necklace.

Plot Changed Paragraph

Tom Benecke decided to break the window with his hand and kept hesitating. He did break the window and was able to get in his house to safety but he hurt himself in the process. Instead of breaking the window with my hand like Tom did I would have figured out a way to break the window with my feet because the shoes protect my skin rather than just swinging at the glass. The plot would change but not a lot because with my decision because instead of someone getting hurt, nobody would get hurt and just be relieved to be safe and not dead.

Friends or Homework

My friends are important to me but school is also important. If I had to choose between my friends and studying, I would choose studying. One reason is because friends don’t always support you in school and they aren’t the ones who are going get you out of school with a diploma. Another reason is because sometimes the people you consider your friends are a bad example and can persuade you to do bad things. Studying for a test is important not only so you can get a decent grade on your test but also to have information in your head that you might need in the future. When it comes to school and friends I would put school first and then my friends.

Paralized By Fear

It was around three in the morning on a Saturday and I was awakened by a noise in my room. At first I thought it was the over night who came in and made noise so I tried to go back to sleep. I closed my eyes but for some reason I didn’t feel comfortable and I felt there was something in my room watching me. I tried to ignore my feelings and go to sleep but just as I was about to go back to sleep I saw a black shadow pass fast to my roommate’s side. At that point I was so petrified and I couldn’t move. My feet were shaking and my heart was pounding so fast I thought I was going to pass out. I put my head under my cover and that’s when the overnight walked in my room. I was so glad she came in and turned on the light. I was scared to go to sleep but I ended up falling to sleep at five in the morning. I was scared for weeks and slept with the light on and realized that it’s all in my head.

Memorable Birthday

It was December 3, 1999 when I turned five years old and it was the best day of my life. I was so excited because I was going to start school soon and I was just growing up. It was hot and bright outside and the day was just perfect because I had my whole family with me on my birthday. I got a tres leches cake with strawberry on the top and I also got a lot of presents from family members and friends. On of the best presents I got that day was a kitten that I named Tyler that my mom gave me. He was so cute but he got ran over that day by a car. What made this birthday the best one was the fact that my whole family was together.

Amy's Wordle

Wordle: Random Me

Embarrassing Moment.!

It was my first day of kindergarten and I felt so lucky and excited. I remember thinking “I’m so lucky to finally start school and make new friends, this is my lucky day”. The day was humid but it felt good and there were lots of birds flying around. My mom took my siblings and me to school and as I was walking to the office a bird took a crap on my head. I thought it was rain because the day was humid but then my brother screamed “Amy you have poop on your head”. It was so loud and there were kids around and they started laughing hysterically at me and pointing. I was so embarrassed and at that point I was feeling very unlucky. I started crying so my mom decided to take me home and still until this day my siblings make fun of me.

After I ate I left to go hang out with some of my friends but I was sad because I hate having to leave my family. My day was really tiring but I had fun hanging out with my family and friends.

My first day as a sophomore!

Boring and exciting is how I would describe my first day of school. I was bored because most of the classes I have, I had last year. It was also boring because the teachers were mostly going over the rules, expectations, syllabus, and grading. All the subjects they were touching base on I have already gone over and understand them. It was exciting because my best friend has the same schedule as me. Another reason my day was exciting was because this year I am a sophomore and I was curious as to what the teachers had planned for us to do. My first day of school, I had a mixture of emotions going through me.

Meeting Rivers from the Chargers......

Yesterday Rivers from the Chargers came to SPA to take a tour with his wife and Jammmers. I was so excited because I had never met Rivers and since I am a Chargers fan I always wanted to meet him. Even though I didn't get his signature, my brother got his chargers jersey signed. I talked to Jammers and I also greeted Rivers and his wife. Yesterday I also did my deep clean and wash all my clothes. I felt so clean afterwards and wanted to keep cleaning. My staff was so excited and happy because everyone did their deep cleans and chores. I also talked to some of my friends. I am so excited because tomorrow is my big brothers, Caillou's birthday and he's turning 17. Happy birthday Caillou!!!!

Prom&&Barbeque

This week at school we had prom and a barbeque. Prom was on Thursday and the barbeque was on Friday. Prom was great for me because it was the first prom I had ever gone to. The place we had prom at was the Grand Del Mar and it was very fancy. The food was good and the place was also good for our group. I had fun with my best friend Becky and I hope to go again next year. The barbeque on Friday was really fun and exciting. We had a jumper and we made posters for each class. Our freshmen class had 14 points at the end but we did great. My favorite part of the barbeque was when I did the pie-eating contest. It was really messy but in the end it was fun. I had fun with my best friend, Nora, my brother, Amber and other people. Some people were talking their mess but I ignored it because I wasn’t going to let them ruin my awesome day. Both days were very fun and I hope we have days like these in the future.

Business Letter

17701 San Pasqual Valley Road
Escondido CA, 92025
April 27, 2010

Principal
Mr. Ron Major
San Pasqual Academy
Escondido CA, 92025

Dear Mr. Ron Major,

I am writing to you because I would like you to consider letting our dress code change. We are not allowed to tank tops but it gets too hot up here in the valley to be wearing long sleeve shirts. Since you are our principal I think you should allow your students to wear tank tops without getting on restriction.

I would like this change to occur because the majority of our students do not like the fact that we can not wear tank tops. I understand why we are not allowed to wear spaghetti strap shirts or strapless shirts but tank tops are different. Many of our students own and like to wear tank tops but we are not allowed to wear them at school without their being consequences. Each of our students is unique and has their own styles but the rules do not let them be themselves. I think that tank tops should be allowed but if students violate the change then the rule should be enforced again where students will not be allowed to wear them.

Thank you in advance for taking your time to read my letter and considering letting our school wear tank tops. I look forward to seeing children in our school wear tank tops. I also look forward to seeing less people be sent to the office for dress code and be put on restriction and having to change.

Sincerely,

Amy

Letter to daughter

April 20, 2010

Dear daughter,
I am really concerned on how much time you spend on Face Book. Instead of being on Face Book you should go out with your friends and hang out. The reason I am concerned about you being on Facebook is because I don’t know who you are talking to or meeting. There are a lot of dangerous people on the internet that pretend to be young and try to be your friends just to have sex with you and sometimes rape or kill you. I don’t want you to experience this so I am going to limit you to an hour on Facebook with supervision. Another reason I am limiting you on Face Book is because it keeps you from focusing on more important things like school.
I am trying to protect you from predators that are on the internet. I will allow you to have a MySpace, Facebook but I am going to have to check on your friends. I will only check your friends when I am concerned that there is something wrong. I do not want you to be posting scandalous pictures that can attract people. I also don’t want you to be posting or sending your address or any information about yourself to anyone. Remember I am not trying to invade your personal space but I just want you to be cautious. If anyone adds you on MySpace, Facebook, etc. that you don’t know make sure they are who they say there are. Stop talking to them if they try to make you feel uncomfortable and they promise you things if you go with them.
I want you to obey these rules and most importantly be cautious of what you do on the internet because the internet is not to be taken as a joke. I am only trying to protect you and also help you learn so that things like this don’t happen to you or any of the people you care about. Be safe and remember be cautious.

Sincerely,
Amy Cruz your mom

Free Blog Post

This weekend was actually not that boring. I spent most of the time at home with my housemates and some visitors. We watched the TV and we also watch some movies like 2012. My house went on a food run on Friday to Target, McDonalds, and 711 to buy some food because we were hungry and we wanted to get off campus for a while. On Saturday I slept in and then I got ready. Joseph came to my house and we hung out all day and watched movies with my brother and other people from my house. We got bored so we went to the gym and we shot hoops!!! On Sunday it was a boring but it was also sad because my brother left for a week to San Francisco. I really miss him.

Earthquake....

Yesterday when I was sitting in the living room, at my house the earthquake began. I was sitting on the couch and it started shaking. At first I thought it was my roommate shaking it but then the windows stared shaking too. I was startled and remember my staff, Laura say “it’s an earthquake”. I ran outside and all the girls were running around screaming hysterically. I was so petrified and I felt like I was going to faint so my staff made me sit down. It was a 7.2 magnitude earthquake that hit Baja California near Calexico yesterday at 3:45 p.m and San Diego felt it.

Cyber Predators

If my friend confied in me about them meeting a person they met online I would tell them not to do it because it could be dangerous. I would tell them that a person they met online can be lying about their age or anything about themselves. A person that you meet online most of the times is a sexual predator that is trying to abduct young teens because they don't take things serious. When you meet with a person that you meet online it can be dangeous for you but also your family. That person may start to stalk you and when you don't want to talk to them anymore they may start to target other people around you especially family members. I would advice my friend that if they don't want to end up in a bad situation then it's a good idea not to do it even if they take a friend with them.

Advice

The advice Iwould give my friend is to talk to someone and tell them about her problems. I would tell her or him that they could talk to a counselor or a teacher if they don't trust their parents or are afraid to tell them. I would advice them to tell their dating partner that they can't see each other because their relationship isn't working out and they need time to think. I would tell them to think about what they really want and to stay away from their dating partner and not talk to them not even throught the phone.

My Dream House

When I grow up I want my dream house to look like a mansion. I want my house to be five stories high and the fifth floor would be my whole room and closet. I also want my dream house to have ten room and seven bathrooms. My dream house will consist of a huge kitchen so that my servants can cook delicious meals for me. I also dream of my house having three living rooms and an amazing theater room. I want to have a room with pool tables where I can chill with friends when they come over. I want to have a backyard and a front yard too. The back yard will have a huge waterfall that will be connected to the pool and a Jacuzzi. The front yard will have a lot of flowers and the floor instead of concrete I want it to be crystals. I want my room to be huge and all purple. I want my bed to be a California king be on a stand with three steps. I also want my room to have a huge flat screen TV.

Winter Break

My winter vacation was very exciting and filled with lots of fun. I got to spend time with my family and with lots of my friends. I had so much fun because on Christmas Eve I spent time with my family and opened presents. On Christmas I spent time with some of my friends and we went to the park to go hang out and have a good time. On New Year’s Eve we had a get together at my sister’s house and we stayed up until the next day for the New Year. On New Year’s I spent time with my family but I also spent time with my friends and went to a party. I hope that next year I have an awesome time like I did this year.
